Localization

Northern coast of Eastern Java, about 50 km north of Banyuwangi.

Access

Easy, about one hour by car from Banyuwangi

Characteristic

250 km²; The park is a rough circle, with the extinct volcano, Baluran, at its centre. Dry, flat to hilly area with the highest point in the altitude of 1247 m. Typical ecosystems: mountainous rain forest, grasslands (40% of total area), wetlands, volcanic biotopes, sea and sea coast, mangroves, coral reefs. Baluran Nation Park is surrounded by heavily cultivated and industrialised land.

Note

Historical place called “Gua Jepang” (Japan Cave) - in this place was happened battle between Indonesia army against Japanese army at the beginning of the World War II
