Localization
Halmahera Island; North-east arm of the island. East to Noth-east from Ternate.
Access
Quite difficult. Lolobata: from Ternate to Sidangoli by speed boat (a few hours), then followed by car to Daru (2 hours). From Daru, the trip is continued by motor boat to Poli/Subaim (1.5 hours).
Aketajawe: From Ternate to Bastiong by speed boat (1/2 hour), then followed by car to Gita (3 hours). From Gita to Sungai Akejira/Hijrah, the trip is continued by car (3 hours).
Characteristic
1,673 km2; Protected area which combines two separated core zones (Aketajawe Protected Forest Group and Lolobata Forest Group). Flat lowlands, rolling ladscape to mountainous area. Typical ecosystems: tropical rain forest, beach forest, lowland swam forest, mangroves, river bank vegetation, mounatin rain forest and sub-alpine meadows.
