Anakao

Photogallery of pictures taken during journeys and expeditions to the town of Anakao and its surroundings (Madagascar).

Anakao is a coastal fishing town of about 3000 inhabitants on the southwest coast of Madagascar, 35 kilometres south of Toliara. It is inhabited by the Vezo people.

The topography is described as "rather flat, except where the sandy soil forms dunes". Extinct giant bird Aepyornis eggshell fragments can be seen on the dunes around.
