Localization
Southwest coast of Sri Lanka, approximately 100 km south of Colombo.
Access
Easy, along the Colombo - Galle highway.
Characteristic
102 ha; The national park contains a coral reef of high degree of biodiversity. Hikkaduwa coral reef is a typical shallow fringing reef with an average depth of around 5 metres. The reef begins at the fishing harbour and extends south for around 4 kilometres. The coast of the national park extends four km. Generally the coast is narrow, ranging from 5–50 m according to the climatic conditions of the year. Typical ecosystems: sea and sea coast, coral reefs.
