Basic ecotouristic information on Vu Quang National Park (Vietnam) - localization, access, characteristic, fauna and flora, possible activities.
Localization
West of Central Vietnam, about 350 km far from Hanoi and 75 km northwest from Ha Tinh City.
Access
Difficult, remote national park. Access only with private transportation from Ha Tinh City. The roads leading to Vū Quang are not always in the best condition and during the rainy season, they may be flooded.
Characteristic
550 km2; Forested hilly area, the part of Truong Son mountain range close to Vietnam and Laos border. The average height of mountains in the park is 800 meters tall. Over 76% of the area is covered by natural forests. The dry season starts in late October and ends in March, while April to September is the wet season. During the dry season, the park is hot and humid with little rain, meanwhile, in winter, the wet season brings cooler temperatures and heavier rain. Typical ecosystems: lowland rain forest, open secondary forest, mountain evergreen forest, freshwater ecosystems (streams, rivers, lakes).

Possible activities
Trekking - due to the lower altitude, most of the trails are easy to moderate in difficulty.
Boat ride through some of the area’s lakes or rivers.

Best time to visit: X-III.
One of the Vietnam´s least explored areas. Less visited national park.
Traveling solo is not recommended and most visitors will need to hire a guide to travel to and explore the park.
Tourist infrastructure is almost missing.
