Localization

Northeast Vietnam, approx. 45 km east of Haiphong and 150 km southeast of Hanoi.

Access

Easy - by boat from Haiphong.

Characteristic

263 km2; The park comprising 173 km2 of land and 90 km2 of inshore water. The island in the south rim of Halong Bay and about 360 small islets are mainly limestone with alternating narrow valleys running north-east to south-west. There are many rugged hills with elevation to 500 metres. Hills and valleys are covered with dense vegetation. The system of caves in the area is plentiful, diverse and complex, further research is required. Typical ecosystems: secondary rain forest, karst biotopes, mangroves, freshwater wetlands, sea and sea coast, coral reefs, caves.
